6-Step Simple Brand Name Generation Exercise
I have been doing some moonlighting helping a couple developers launch their projects.
One of the projects needed a brand. I won’t disclose the WIP project, but here are the steps we used to find some domain names:
- Determine core words, phrases, abbreviations
- Look up synonyms for those words
- Look up those words in different languages
- Look up synonyms for the translated words
- Come up with variations of words
- Check to see if domain is available
Let’s try out the process.
Step 1: Let’s pick some core words: fast, easy, OS, core, foundation, saas
Step 2: Now let’s lookup some synonym’s for Fast
Step 3: Let’s use the original word fast: https://translated-into.com/fast
Step 4: Now let’s look up synonym’s for the translated words
Step 5: Let’s combine veloz in unique ways: velozos, velozaas, velozify, veloz, eveloz, iveloz
Step 6: Check the domain for availability
BONUS: Check for Social Media Accounts
There are a few sites that will look up social media accounts for you:
There are also companies like: https://knowem.com who will help you register the brand at most of the social media locations.
